Project Purge (UPDATE)

So remember how I mentioned that after finding out we couldn’t do quite the amount of remodelling we thought I went through all my drawers and bins? I got rid of 3 large garbage bags of clothes and reorganized my t-shirt and sweaters drawers to a vertical system. I saw it on a blog and I’d love to credit them but I honestly don’t remember where I saw it.

All I have to say is LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE.

You can see everything and you know what it is, you don’t have to dig around it’s all RIGHT THERE!!!! I’m too nervous to do it with my dressy folded shirts, I’ll just have to await the walk in closet to see those easily. I’ve already planed on getting those thin velvet hangers and having everything color coordinated… it is too much, I really can’t contain my glee.

Did I mention that G told me I could have the ENTIRE WALK IN TO MYSELF!!!!! Don’t think that I’ll actually take him up on it as that would be ridiculous, even for me. But I sorta can’t wait to see how this all shakes out.

Pity Party OVER

Ok I’m back on the excited train. Yes we’re only going to have three bedrooms upstairs instead of four and yes we’re going to make due with what we have on the first floor but I’m OK with that. I think in about 5 years we’ll expand our family room and that will be awesome. Once I’m done with reorganizing the kitchen I’ll be happy and I’m SO SO SO excited about our bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs.

I’ve been doing so much research, blog reading, pinteresting on closets and organization that I think I’m ready. =)

The Deep

We could have had it all
Rolling in the deep
You had my heart inside your hand
And you played it to the beat

To say I’m disappointed doesn’t begin to cover the emotions I’m feeling. I should start at the beginning. We had a meeting this weekend with our builder to go over the budget.  Remember how G and I were shocked at how much he was giving us, well it turns out it was indeed too good to be true. Seems the esteemed gentleman from New Jersey “misunderstood” what we were saying and thought that our budget was TWICE as much as it actually was. TWICE as much!!!!  My heart just sank when he put the budget in front of me. Then when G started to talk I got very nervous that he was going to explode because we thought we were explicitly clear as far as how much we could spend and how much we wanted.

So back to the drawing board, luckily he has the pricing, so today when I get home I should have a new set of plans that fit well within our budget and we can get moving and shaking.

After he left, G wanted to just chill with the Met game while I took D out to Target. A little retail therapy never hurt anyone. I even taught him about budgets since he was asking why we were mad. I told him that he could buy as many things as he wanted at the store as long as it was less than $20 and I would help him with the math. And he did it! So simple a 5 year old can figure it out!!!!

On a much better front, I got my household notebook in working order! I’m very proud of it.

Command Central

I am SO obsessed with Household Notebooks. I’ve signed up for about three different organizing sites and tutorials of how to set it up. I of course have not gotten much further than purchasing the materials. My main problem is that I’m not sure what I want OUT of my command center. So many seem to be tailored towards homemakers and include cleaning schedules and chores and stuff like that. Well that’s all fine and good, except that I outsource my cleaning and I cram all my chores into the weekend since I work out of the home during the week. I guess I could TRY to schedule some things out during the week, as that does seem to be the point of all of this…. I digress.

I really want to get it set up before we move into our temporary home. I actually just asked my boss if I could take a day off a week from now until then to get the house organized and when I say house, I mean me!!!

We have a plan of action which is good, what we need now is a schedule from our builder so we can back out and figure out when we’ll need to be out of our beloved home.

In the meantime, how HILARIOUS is this!
Slow Clap

One step forward, two steps back

We had a great meeting with our architect to finish the design phase. Unfortunately, we thought we were going to be getting a budget but did not. We also went to look at another rental that is right on our street. We made an offer and are waiting to hear. In the meantime I’ve been keeping the other house in the wings. I feel bad leading them on, since it is a LOVELY house and G liked it as well. However it is SO far away, we want to be closer. It would be way too disruptive to be that far away.

Hubs and I also make a few lists of what actually had to be done… OMG so.much.stuff!!!!  We haven’t rented in 10+years and quite honestly forgot so much!!!  Utilities is the biggest, UGH not looking forward to any of that.

Cross your fingers and toes that we get this place though. It would make life so much better.

In other news…. we had D & E’s birthday party this weekend. It was a Scooby Doo theme party at My Gym. Both kids had a BALL! There were SO MANY KIDS there!!!!  Exhausting but awesome. Check out the stupendously awesome cake that Sweet Samantha make for us.
